I have two jobs in this this long weekend : finishing draft of University Annual Report and my book about UAVINDO. I know these jobs can be accomplished in weekday but I think If I can finish it more fast, I can do another jobs. I really want to continue my research about Entrepreneurial University, UAV industry ecosystem in Indonesia, and learning R as preparation to data management and my long-time research that related to big data. I have plan that this year I must publish several papers in reputable international journal as preparation to take my PhD next year. I have several materials but still have no time to write down. I am looked so ambitious, it’s doesn’t matter I think because of it’s part of how to make my self to be beneficial to the people. “By what I can contribute for ?”, “By knowledge”, “How if all those things you dream doesn’t come true ?”, “It doesn’t matter, my duty is one and only doing the best”.
I have just had a breakfast at Bu Tatang’s. I am not frequently going to there but for this morning I don’t have options except Bu Tatang’s. Tonight I didn’t take a dinner because I was so sleepy and lazy to go outside. I then took a sleep till this morning. When I wake up, I felt so hungry so after writing transcript of interview I power my motor’s mechine and ride it to one of favourite warung for students, Bu Tatang’s. I ordered fried meat-egg (dadar daging), corn-dadar, and spinach for meal and hot sugared tea for drink. All costs was just 15k. I think its so cheap, maybe this is the reason many students take breakfast here.
This time I am waiting for interview with a former engineer at UAVINDO, now he has a company that concern in mapping. He said that he is in a meeting place, I then replied “I will wait”. Because of his reply on WhatsApp I stopped working with my laptop. I then choose to write in this blog. As you know, this is my first time being at Coffee Bene. I ordered a cup of iced lattee costs 33k rupiahs. It’s scenery is so good if you want to work or just hanging out with your friends. But for me, I prefer other place like Yellow Truck at Linggawastu. Not because of price but because it’s atmosphere is good for leisure like if you want date with your girl friend.
I have just finished interview with Pak Sofan, a teammate member of UAVINDO in the first beginning. I explored what he did when working together with Pak Djoko. He said that Pak Djoko gave him many opportunities to run big projects and meet with many bosses. So these experiences stimulate his confidence when he run a company independently. He now run a company that have 100s employees. “For the next opportunity in mapping business is big data”, he said. I do agree.
This time I am waiting for the second part playing badminton this morning. I am waiting outside the court. The weather looks so hot inside. I have just played twice in series that make me so tired. I am looking for fresh air to make my body ready again to play. Technically I am still not good, especially when giving service, backhand, netting, and giving zig zag smash. I am good at delivering hard smash but sometimes it doesn’t lead to the right target. However, I feel that my play is better than before when I was in the first time try to routiny playing this game. I don’t feel tired after games is over because I keep learning it’s techniques and also doing warming up before I take the game. I also routiny do jogging and simple fitness that make my body more slightly (but not thinny). I think my body still proportional and a step ahead to be like Cristiano Ronaldo’s :p
Last night more than three hours, I discussed with Anshori (eFishery) and Faiz (Prello.id) about how does hardware tech-based startup work. Anshori is ITB 2009, same with me but he graduated from Informatics. Faiz from System and Information Technology (STI) batch 2010, a year younger than me. Firstly, I ask Anshori to give an inside to me whose opportunity to write a book about UAV’s startup. He gave me much lesson in that night. For example, he said that as hardware startup we must have a core that make us leading to another startup. In the discussion many terms I just got like toyota way, lean manufacturing (if not false), and so on. We also discussion about happening cases like as Cambridge Analytics. The meeting was very meaningful to me.
Last evening, I met my MIPA’s friend, namely Andri. He have just graduated from TU Delft last December and now he has been developing LoRa Technology by doing projects with Telkom. We then discussed each other. I told him that our policy doesn’t fit in now’s digital era. One of problems is we have no map of players, resource’s capability, and single road map in mastering spesific technology. Even there are many problems, our opportunity is still open. Andri said that before digital era our cake just one, now it can be two, three, and more.
Today I met Pak Djoko Sardjadi for x times (I don’t know exactly how many times I met him) for presenting what I have done about the book. I revised list of its content with just four chapter. I try to use less theory and more in telling story about UAVINDO journey. Pak Djoko’s reply just a few, if it’s not wrong only one thing : the writing style must be projeted to stimulate inspiration for every one who read the book. I then took interview with him for half hour. I ask him about straight question that I didn’t get in the interviews before. One interesting point is when demonstration of UAV created by Pak Djoko and team. In that time, their UAV was crashed because of lack of proper communication control from remote to UAV. So that tool is being offline. As team leader, Pak Djoko gave his team moral support to make them keep going in developing UAV. One lesson-learned I get from here : Never Give Up !
As I scheduled before that in the afternoon every day, I will go to my second office after in the morning I spend in my another office. This day was different because SBMPTN officials held a meeting. Surely I can’t concentrate because this annoying. So, I went to the Yellow Truck and did my job. This is my destinity that work according projects, I have no fixed office that I am controlled to come for fixed time. I have been doing for this for about one year. I choose this kind of jobs because I have a plan to continue my PhD. So, even I do technical jobs, I also do a job that need more time to think. So, for today beside a researcher, I am also a employee, a system engineer, and an author. Is it complex? Maybe. But, I still can do my interest like jogging, badminton, hanging out, and blogging like this. Make your day have more benefits Guys !
